- Marine
Summary
WJ Marine was chosen to provide a turnkey service in renewing the anti-skid and protective paint on various decks and ramps of Primula Seaways, a roll-on/roll-off vessel built in 2004 for DFDS Torline. The project was completed during the vessel’s 8-day layover, with a focus on maximizing efficiency and ensuring minimal disruption to port operations.
Objectives
The main objective was to renew the anti-skid coating and protective paint on critical areas of the decks and ramps, which had experienced wear over time. WJ Marine conducted thorough preparation, including disassembly, cleaning, and blasting, before applying an anti-corrosion primer.
Solutions
WJ Marine installed the bimagrip system on critical areas of the decks and ramps, providing a durable and high-friction coating. Additionally, over 2,500m2 of weather and car decks were renewed using a 4-coat protective paint system. The areas were blasted to SA2.5 standard and painted with PPG products, including Sigma Zinc, Sigma Prime, and Sigma Cover, with the application of casted aggregate.
Results
The project was a success. WJ Marine takes pride in their contribution to the history of Primula Seaways, completing over 560m2 of renewed anti-skid surface in just 4 days during the vessel’s layover. The client expressed satisfaction with the new anti-skid surface and praised the professionalism and efforts of the WJ Marine team. WJ Marine is committed to delivering turnkey solutions, adapting to tight schedules and changing requirements in the marine industry through careful planning, thorough preparation, and skilled workmanship.
